Princess and heir to the throne of Aelia.
1st generation half-elf child to a human mother and elven father, the latter of which left her life at a young age. She barely remembers him. Her mother was the one in the line of succession, and Seresia as an only child was expected to inherit.
As such, she was raised around that expectation. You can imagine most of what that entails. She was always a bit of an extroverted people person, who very much preferred interactions outside the royal tower to those within, but a lot of that was frowned upon, and free interaction outside... Discouraged.
Kathika began to break her out of her shell when she was assigned as her bodyguard, and Seresia eventually committed the taboo of getting a body mod as a combined act of rebellion against her family and an act of solidarity for Kathika.
When the collapse came, she was ordered to get out as soon as possible, but delayed because she wanted to take as many of the tower's service staff out on her Eagle as possible. It all came to nothing when a critical part on her eagle couldn't be replaced in time, leading to where you all met her.
She's more than a little bit gay for Kathika, struggling to break out of the stiff behavior trained into her, and occasionally prone to emotion-driven impulsiveness that completely disregards propriety. Put in a situation with no expectations and someone she didn't know, she would likely be a little formal and distant at first, until she tells herself to drop the formal act and try to make a friend.
She's also rather idealistic, but not naïvely so; having been raised for this, Seresia has an idea of what the price of idealism might be.
She unfroze when the stasis field fractured, and before she could free Kathika, found herself pursued by the beings who were after her before the collapse. Blundering into one of the early Rhodian expeditions, she was taken by them and rapidly brought to Tavon.
She was quickly introduced to the Archduchess, who treated her with the respect afforded to a foreign head of state, and was caught up on the Rhodian perspective of the last several hundred years. They hosted her in the palace, informed her of the basic facts of their plan, and provided her with constant status updates on their plan to free the people of Aelia. Her comms equipment was kept by the Rhodians at the time, however.
She requested that an expedition be dispatched to retrieve Kathika urgently, but the Rhodians reported that they were unable to locate her.
Seresia was cooperative with the Rhodians, but slightly wary of their motivations. As her stay dragged on, these concerns seemed somewhat assuaged, but she doesn't trust them. From her perspective, no, the Rhodians can't be trusted, but they're their best chance at saving the citizens of Aelia. Without them, nobody would be trying, and with Rhodia, even if they end up pillaging the city for all its wealth (what hypothetical Winters fears they would do), the people would still be able to escape. She's much more concerned with the people than the wealth. Thus, she views it as a hard answer to a question where every other option is worse.
There's a bit of, "Even if you're right, then Rhodia wants the wealth, not the people, and the people are all that matter."
So, she believes that if Kathika and the group lay down their arms and work with Rhodia, that it would be for the best. She believes Rhodia would give them amnesty in such a situation at her request.
A couple times she's requested to leave to look for Kathika, but has been discouraged from doing so. It's starting to feel a bit uncomfortably like home.
A week or so ago, she was informed regretfully that Kathika seemed to have been found operating with a group rebelling against Rhodia. They stated that they believed Kathika had been deceived into opposing them by several known insurgents and terrorists that she had been seen with. They stated that there was a plan in the works to peacefully bring her in, and would keep her appraised.
Five days ago, somebody new took up residence in the quarters down the hall from her. A young mage named Rose was being kept there, and Seresia was informed that she was a guest of great importance, sent by her parents to study to harness her unique magic. The two interacted a little, and got on rather well. Rose, constantly watched much like Seresia, said nothing of how she had actually found herself there, and was very cagey about questions regarding home.
Tonight, she was informed that the operation was underway, and if successful, Kathika would be with her soon, and the insurgents in custody. When it failed, she was offered her comms equipment back by the Rhodians, and she made the call asking Kathika to surrender.
